How to Update the Firmware of your RedPort Optimizer (Personal)

Use this guide to quickly and easily update the operating firmware of your RedPort Optimizer to the latest version.

Periodically, new versions of the RedPort Optimizer firmware is released, fixing any bugs or improving the functionality of the device. If you have owed your RedPort product for some time, are experiencing any technical problems, or have seen an error message regarding outdated firmware in your RedPort Halo mobile app, we recommend performing an update to the firmware of the Optimizer. 

The current version of your Optimizer's firmware can be found by looking in the black bar, in the  top left corner of the user interface screen at 192.168.10.1. 

Before you begin the firmware update to your RedPort Optimizer, you will need to know the model version of your unit. You can find this information on the label, located on the bottom or back of your Optimizer. It will begin with "wXa-" Once you locate this, you can download the firmware for that model number using the table below:

Please note that the firmware file you download will be a .bin file, and your computer will not be able to open it.

 

After you have downloaded and saved the correct firmware file to your computer, follow the below instructions.

  1. Connect your computer to the RedPort Optimizer’s wifi network 

  2. Open any browser and type the following IP address into your URL bar: 192.168.10.1 

  3. When the login screen appears, login with the following credentials

    1. Username: superadmin

    2. Password: webxaccess

  4. Navigate to System > Backup/ Flash Firmware using the tabs at the top of the screen

    1. Under the Flash new firmware image header,  make sure that "keep settings" remains unchecked. This is very important.

    2. Beside Image, click the "Choose File" button, and browse for the firmware you downloaded from above link. It should be a .bin fileScreen Shot 2022-07-14 at 3.54.10 PM-1

    3. Once the firmware file is uploaded, click the "Flash image" buttonScreen Shot 2022-07-14 at 3.54.10 PM-2

  5. Once the next page loads, click the "Proceed" button

  6. The flash process will reboot the router so the final page will never refresh.  Keep an eye on the lights on your Optimizer and the available wifi networks on your computer device. When you notice the Optimzer's network disappear and reappear, the update is complete. This could take up to 5 minutes. 

    1. If you have a wxa-112 or wxa-122 model, the grey button on the top of the Optimizer will start flashing, when it stops flashing, the firmware update is complete.

    2. Once the update is done, you will need to connect to the Optimizer's network and manually log into the user interface at 192.168.10.1 again.
