What SMS commands does Tracertrak accept?

SMS commands are supported for alarm management, device polling and messaging

Tracertrak accepts SMS commands from people registered on the target Tracertrak account via the following regional numbers:

Australia & New Zealand: +61 424 218 725

Indonesia: +61 424 214 145

North America: +1 786 677 8559

SMS commands are not case sensitive, but they must be exact, otherwise they will be rejected by Tracertrak.  Rejected SMS commands will receive a failure SMS in response which will incur any associated SMS fees.

SMS commands must come from a mobile phone number that is the same as the mobile phone number listed for a person on the Tracertrak Account that the SMS command is being sent for.  Otherwise, the SMS command will be rejected by Tracertrak.

Console User SMS Commands

The following SMS commands are supported by Tracertrak.

ACCEPT

The 'ACCEPT' command enables you to acknowledge an alarm for a single device by providing a unique code that identifies the alarm. Acknowledging the alarm suppresses any reminder alerts that may be configured for the alarm.

SMS Message Format Detail
ACCEPT <Alarm Code>

Replace <Alarm Code> with the 4 digit number provided in the alerts sent for the alarm you wish to acknowledge. 

There must be a space between ACCEPT and the alarm code.

eg. ACCEPT 1234 

<Account Name> ACCEPT <Alarm Code>

If you are a User that belongs to multiple accounts, please provide the account name for which you are acknowledging an alarm. Enter the account name before the 'ACCEPT' command.

There must be a space between the account name, ACCEPT and the alarm code.

eg. CompanyX ACCEPT 1234 

END

The 'END' command enables you to end an alarm for a single device by providing a unique code that identifies the alarm.

SMS Message Format Detail
END <Alarm Code>

Replace <Alarm Code> with the 4 digit number provided in the alerts sent for the alarm you wish to end.

There must be a space between END and the alarm code.

eg. END 1234 

<Account Name> END <Alarm Code>

If you are a User that belongs to multiple accounts, please provide the account name for which you are ending an alarm. Enter the account name before the 'END' command.

There must be a space between the account name, END and the alarm code.

eg. CompanyX END 1234 

LOCATE

The 'LOCATE' command will return the last known location of a device.  The LOCATE command must be appended with the name of the device, the name of the person assigned to the device or the device identifier.  

SMS Message Format Detail
LOCATE <Device Name>

Replace <Device Name> with the name of the required device as created via the Tracertrak Console.

There must be a space between LOCATE and the device name.

eg. LOCATE Device X

LOCATE <Device Identifier>

Replace <Device Identifier> with the device identifier of the required device as created via the Tracertrak Console.

There must be a space between LOCATE and the device identifier.

eg. LOCATE 30023406123456

LOCATE <Person>

Replace <Person> with the first name and last name of the person assigned to the device.

There must be a space between LOCATE and the first name and last name of the person.

eg. LOCATE John Smith

<Account Name> LOCATE <XXX>

If you are a User that belongs to multiple accounts, please provide the account name you wish to find devices from. Enter the account name before the 'LOCATE' command. This applies whether specifying a device name, device identifier or person.

There must be a space between the account name, LOCATE and the search option.

MESSAGE

The 'MESSAGE' command enables you to send a message to a 2-way capable device, if the user has both 2-Way SMS and Messaging permissions.

SMS Message Format Detail
MESSAGE <Device Name> : <message>

To send a message to a device, replace <Device Name> with the name of the required device as created via the Tracertrak Console.

There must be a space between MESSAGE, the device name, the : and the message content.

eg. MESSAGE Device X : This is a message to a device

MESSAGE <Device Identifier> : <message>

To send a message to a device, replace <Device Identifier> with the device identifier of the required device.

There must be a space between MESSAGE, the device identifier, the : and the message content.

eg. MESSAGE 30023406123456 : This is a message to a device

MESSAGE <Person> : <message>

To send a message to a person , replace <Person> with the first name and the last name of the person assigned to the device.

There must be a space between MESSAGE, the persons first name, the persons last name, the : and the message content.

eg. MESSAGE John Smith : This is a message to a person

MESSAGE GROUP <Group> : <message>

To send a message a group of devices, replace <Group> with the name of the desired device group.

The 'GROUP' keyword must be added before the device group name. 'GROUP' may be entered as 'GRP'.

There must be a space between MESSAGE, GROUP, the device group name, the : and the message content.

eg. MESSAGE GROUP GroupX : This is a message to a group of devices

MESSAGE GEOFENCE <Geofence> : <message>

To send a message to all devices in breach of a Geofence, replace <Geofence> with the name of the required geofence.

The 'GEOFENCE' keyword must be added before the geofence name. 'GEOFENCE' may be entered as 'GEO' to reduce the number of keystrokes required.

There must be a space between MESSAGE, GEOFENCE, the geofence name, the : and the message content.

eg. MESSAGE GEOFENCE GeofenceX: This is a message to all devices in breach of the geofence

Help

The 'HELP' command provides a list of commands that is supported by Tracertrak.

The Help command can be appended with a specific command to get detailed information about how to use that command.

SMS Message Format Detail
HELP Sending 'HELP' will return the list of possible commands for Tracertrak.
HELP <Command>

Replace <Command> with the command for which you want assistance. A response will be sent explaining the information you need to provide with that command.  There must be a space between HELP and the command.
